The photographic gear we use gets a disproportional about of attention in my personal opinion in relation to the end product. The Canon, Sony, Nikon, Fuji, et. al, debate will never end - and let's not get into digital vs. film. Truth be told, one can take outstanding image with a cell phone or old school film camera. Equipment is less important than the ability to see an image and then bring it to life. With this said, I do think that it is valuable to be transparent with the tools we use.
